Growing up, I didn’t know my own potential. I didn’t have people in my community to look up to or see career paths outside of blue collar work. When I eventually got to a Director level role in tech it finally hit me - this was here for me all along.
Campfire focuses on hosting career days at underprivileged schools with marginalized populations to show teens there are so many roles out there for them to grow into. That you can be successful without going to post-secondary education if that is not an option for you. That there are people just like you in all sorts of flourishing industries. Volunteers tell the stories of their career paths to inspire and answer any questions folks might have, forging relationships outside of the kids’ communities and showing them opportunity.
